First 5 San Bernardino
continuously strives to make a positive difference in the lives of children, prenatal
to age five, throughout this county. This is primarily accomplished through partnerships
with local service agencies to provide quality programs to young children and their
families. Other tools or resources offered by First 5 in the endeavor to improve
early childhood include the Kelly Torres Center, the Kit for New Parents, and our
School Readiness Initiative.
First 5 San Bernardino’s
commitment to serving our youngest children stems from the research in brain development
showing that the experiences of children in their earliest years significantly affect
the way they grow and develop. Positive results in the early years impact dramatically
on their physical, mental, emotional and social development. This, in turn, reduces
the social and financial costs of services the children might need in later years.
