Health Care Access for all Children Initiative

First 5 San Bernardino has partnered with First 5 California to make sure children ages 0-5 have the health insurance they need. Both are working together to accomplish this goal in a number of ways:

1. Make sure California’s families are aware of the various government funded insurance programs for children that are available, including Healthy Families and Medi-Cal
2. Help families determine which programs they’re eligible for
3. Provide an alternative government funded insurance program for families who don’t qualify for Healthy Families or Medi-Cal
4. Provide resources to assist with enrollment.

Keeping them Healthy:

From health insurance to keeping your child fit, First 5 San Bernardino invests in programs that provide valuable services and resources to parents and children.

First 5 San Bernardino Health Care and Well Being partner agencies contribute to a variety of resources and services to ensure your child’s good health. Whether it’s preventing a toothache, enrolling in Healthy Kids, or getting emotionally prepared for school, First 5 partner agencies can help.

Services include:

1. Improve access to and the quality of health resources for pregnant women, children and their families.
2. Increase the percentage of eligible children are enrolled and retained in no-cost health insurance programs
3. Increase utilization of preventive and other needed services among children 0-5 enrolled in low or no-cost health insurance programs.
