Father and Daughter Fingerpainting First 5 San Bernardino supports programs, activities, and services that help ensure that children are ready to learn and thrive. During FY 2009-10, First 5 San Bernardino invested in approximately $25 million into 74 programs.

The Commission is committed to systematically and continually assessing its efforts and using data to strengthen programs, inform decision-making, measure outcomes, and document the collective impact of activities funded by First 5 San Bernardino. Evaluation results are prepared for multiple audiences at both the local and state level. In addition to reporting results to the San Bernardino County community, the Commission is also required to report outcomes to the First 5 California Commission and the California State Legislature.

In FY 2009-10, First 5 San Bernardino and its partner agencies provided critical services to children 0-5 and their families. Together they also continued to strengthen the infrastructure and systems that serve children and families and increase awareness among parents and members of the community. Main highlights and findings are presented in this Executive Summary and are organized by the four focus areas identified in the Commission’s Strategic Plan:
