The First 5 San Bernardino Advisory Committee was created to satisfy the mandate of Proposition 10 legislation. The function of the Advisory Committee is to provide information to the Commission for the use in making its policy and funding decisions.The Committee is composed of diverse community representation reflecting the diverse backgrounds and abilities of San Bernardino County and represent different ethnic, linguistic, cultural, socio-economic, religious, geographical and/or other historically or currently under-served communities.

Meeting Schedule, Agendas & Minutes

The First 5 San Bernardino Advisory Committee is charged with providing technical and professional expertise and support to the First 5 San Bernardino Commission (which was formed in response to the passage of Proposition 10). The role of the Advisory Committee is to advise the Commission on all major issues impacting children, ages zero to five, in San Bernardino County. Duties include facilitating the review of proposals submitted in response to the Commission's release of funding, advising and monitoring the evaluation process, researching best practice models of programs, and other advisory activities.

The Advisory Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of every month from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 330 N. D Street, San Bernardino, Suite 500 in San Bernardino. All meetings are open to the public.

Current Projects:

Special Needs: The Advisory Committee defines the guidelines of the County’s special needs population through the Special Needs Definition provided by the First 5 California Commission.

Strategic Plan: Ongoing assessment of the First 5 San Bernardino Strategic Plan as the goals and strategies progress over time.

Planning for scheduled Request For Proposals (RFP) 2012: The Advisory Committee is currently reviewing the Strategic Plan and assessing the needs of San Bernardino with regards to the Family, Health and Education Focus Areas and how First 5 San Bernardino will prioritize the needs of the community for the future.

Members are appointed by the First 5 San Bernardino Commission. Terms of office are for two years. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed when vacancies exist.
